A Liverpool councillor is to help strengthen the city's position within Europe, as he takes on a prestigious new role.

The city council's cabinet member for employment, enterprise and skills, Cllr Nick Small, will be appointed as new chair of the EUROCITIES Economic Development Forum at a meeting of the forum, which is being held in Riga, the capital city of Latvia, on 5 October.
