Two years to change the world

As Calderdale MBC’s chief executive Robin Tuddenham takes on the role of president of Solace in what could be the two most transformative years for local government in the past few decades, he talks to Heather Jameson about his ambition for the sector

The new president of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (Solace) Robin Tuddenham took on the role just a couple of weeks after the transformational English Devolution White Paper was published. His two-year tenure will be set to a backdrop of flux, instability and opportunity. But his starting point is to build up his colleagues in potentially challenging times.

He tells The MJ: ‘The first thing I'm going to do is seek to amplify the voice of professional leadership in local government, to lift people's heads up and energise the sector.
