Some of the counties’ biggest council jobs have changed hands this week, as Westminster, Cardiff and the bi-borough all announced new chief executives.

Some of the counties' biggest council jobs have changed hands this week, as Westminster, Cardiff and the bi-borough all announced new chief executives.

Birmingham City Council will also see the retirement of its current chief – Stephen Hughes – who will not be directly replaced.  Instead, the council plans to have a lead officer, with the statutory role of head of paid service, but without the title of chief executive.
