Changing Futures in Westminster

Westminster City Council’s successful bid for a project under the Changing Futures programme will enable more support for young people and moves the borough a step towards its City for All vision says Cllr Heather Acton.

As society edges back to normality after 16 months of lockdown, councils across the country are working to revive and restore their communities with a range of initiatives – linking volunteers to give support to those in need, promoting local businesses and attracting inward investment.

In Westminster we are doing all three, but we are also concentrating on the possibly overlooked victims of the pandemic – young people who are vulnerable or from chaotic backgrounds. Lockdown was hard for all of us and even more so if struggling with mental illness, housing problems, or trying to find a job.
