Can charities bridge the health divide?

Dan Corry argues that local authorities can collaborate more closelywith the third sector to deliver better health services for their communities

Charities do many health-related things well, especially when it comes to services which are fundamentally about good relationships rather than medical skill.

They focus on the individual and their journey to wellness more than the state system. They can be a voice for the patient or citizen trying to weave themselves through the system. They bring their own independent resources to the table and yet they find it hard to build constructive relationships with the NHS and the rest of the statutory sector.
