Charity muggers 'scaring off shoppers' says LGA

According to a survey by the LGA two-thirds of councils have received complaints about 'chuggers'.

Two-thirds of councils have received complaints about ‘chuggers' – so-called ‘charity muggers' – fundraising in town centres, according to a survey by the Local Government Association (LGA).

The study found that 68% of local authorities have received complaints from shoppers, businesses and other voluntary sector groups, while 54% of councils said street-based charity fundraisers were now putting people off from visiting their local high street.
