Charity raises council tax debt fears

A national debt helpline has called for councils to take a more 'measured' approach to debt collection.

A national debt helpline has called for councils to take a more 'measured' approach to debt collection after reporting a 40% rise in calls over council tax debts.

The Money Advice Trust said it took more than 36,000 calls over council tax arrears last year, which is the highest number in its 26-year history.
