Charity warns of £500m social care shortfall

Councils are facing a £500m spending shortfall for social care services for the elderly, according to a new report by Age UK.

Councils are facing a £500m spending shortfall for social care services for the elderly, according to a new report by Age UK.

Research published by the charity in its Care In Crisis 2012 report claims a combination of rising demand for services and a £341m cut in older people's social care budgets has created the £500m shortfall.
