Charity wins argument over hospice VAT relief

The charity, Sue Ryder, has claimed an important victory in its campaign to change government policy on VAT relief for charities providing hospice care.

The House of Lords last week voted in favour of an amendment from Lord Patel of Bradford to the Health and Social Care Bill, which requires the Government to report back to Parliament on the VAT treatment of supplies by charities providing healthcare services.
