New charter for Oxfordshire councils is a great platform to build on

The Oxfordshire Councils Charter, aimed at improving local democracy, is the first in the country to include all three tiers of local government, says leader of Oxfordshire CC Cllr Liz Leffman

Following a great deal of hard work and planning here in Oxfordshire during 2023 and 2024 we were very happy in July to be able to launch a groundbreaking charter that aims to deepen and enhance local democracy across all of the county's communities and improve ways of working between councils.

The Oxfordshire Councils Charter is the first of its kind in the country to include all three tiers of local government – parish/town councils, parish meetings, the city council, the district councils and the county council.
