Ex-chief is custom-made for new role at Revenue

Former Birmingham City Council chief executive, Lin Homer, appointed permanent secretary of HM Revenue and Customs.

Former Birmingham City Council chief executive, Lin Homer, has been appointed permanent secretary of HM Revenue and Customs, following a short stint at the Department for Transport.

Replacing Lesley Strathie, who stepped down on health grounds, Ms Homer will leave the DfT to take up the reins at HMRC in January 2012.
