Mencap has appointed Jan Tregelles, its current director of personal support, to become its new chief executive.

She first worked at Mencap in 1983 as PA to one of the then directors. She left to pursue a career in housing when in 1997 Mencap asked her to set up Golden Lane Housing. Since 1997 She has held various posts across Mencap and has been the director of personal support since 2002.
