Haringey is a council with ambitions greater than most. Armed with a significant budget we're making Tottenham better. Better housing, safer parks, somewhere people are proud to live and work. We're also improving the way we work: our customer service and infrastructure. However, change won't happen overnight. So we need an inspiring Chief Operating Officer to join us and lead future transformation.

This isn't just an important role at Haringey. It's absolutely central. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will make sure every service area delivers as planned. It means working effectively with the senior management team; leading Assistant Directors; and setting strategic direction. Crucially, you'll also bring cultural change by instilling a sense of optimism and purpose. The role comes with statutory responsibilities too, which means you'll be acting as our Section 151 Officer under the Local Government Act 1972.

Knowing how to manage large teams and strategies is only the start. You've got to be an experienced, senior manager who can deliver results, drives cultural change and operates in a political environment. Determined, articulate and influential, you'll inspire respect and encourage people to perform at their best. A collaborative approach will be required at all times. Your credibility will be built on sound knowledge of public sector commissioning; local government finance frameworks; and ideally, the intricacies of local government.
 A CCAB-qualified accountant, you'll also have the skill to handle large budgets.
