Wales' eight local government pension funds should be left under the control of councillors, a former head of finance at the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) has argued.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves recently visited a group of Canadian pension schemes to look at how consolidating UK pension funds could boost the economy amid a Whitehall review that is taking a ‘holistic look at the local government pension scheme's (LGPS) role in supporting UK growth'.
