Council chiefs have demanded 'substantial improvement' to coalition proposals for localised business rate schemes.

Council chiefs have demanded ‘substantial improvement' to coalition proposals for localised business rate schemes, and urged the Treasury to scrap unjustified cash ‘hold-backs'.

According to the Local Government Association's (LGA's) official response to the Government's consultation on business rates retention, Smith Square is demanding key revisions ‘where change would be likely to support local economic growth'.
