More than 40 council chiefs have called on the Government to implement Andrew Dilnot's proposals for social care funding, with a £50,000 cap on individual costs.

In a letter to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, 41 cabinet members from across the country, said the current system should be urgently reformed to protect the ‘dignity of older people'.
