More choice for patients after Blair, says report

IFS reports health reforms from Blair era resulted in decrease in patients treated by their local NHS trust.

Health reforms introduced by Tony Blair's Government resulted in a significant decrease in the proportion of patients treated at their local NHS trust, the Institute for Fiscal Studies has reported.

According to findings released on 19 November, the growth of patient choice since 2006/07 has seen GPs increasingly refer patients to privately-owned centres which treat NHS patients.
