Chorley BC's surprise unitary announcement has reignited the debate in the North West, with other council leaders admitting they are now considering going down the same route.

The district council revealed last week that it wants to break away from Lancashire CC and had recently met with communities secretary, Eric Pickles, to discuss becoming a unitary authority.
