Christmas crackers keep coming

All the Government's proposals due by the end of this year add up to significant change for places, says Zoë Billingham.

By the end of the year, the Government will have set in motion some big changes for local and regional government.

This week saw the publication of the English Devolution White Paper, including proposals on local government reorganisation and with the local government finance provisional settlement still to come. It will be critical for the overall substance of these proposals to have coherence and well-defined aims. Done well, they could help foster growth, community connection and democratic accountability.
