The Chartered Institute for Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has defended its shift to make more comments on the policy options facing government and councils.

Director of corporate communications at CIPFA, Drew Cullen, was forced to respond after financial services manager at Redcar & Cleveland Council, David Jennings, raised questions about the implications of the institute's ‘ever-more campaigning style and tone in so many of its pronouncements'.
