CIPFA says its time for a rethink

The ~Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy~ (CIPFA) has called for new thinking about the future of local government.

In its response to the 'Future of local services' inspection paper on the future of CPA, the society calls for the review to examine all audit and inspections in England. And in CIPFA's response to the Lyons inquiry, the society urged central government to create an independent grants commission and a clear constitutional settlement. The response also warned against a ‘tick-box' approach to future inspections.
