The social-enterprise, Circle, has become the first non-state provider to take over management of an NHS trust.

The employee-owned group will run the Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust in Cambridgeshire from February 2012 onwards, as part of a £1bn, 10-year contract.
