Cities minister Greg Clark has hinted at a major expansion of the City Deals programme to include other economic areas, stating the initial projects were just a ‘bridgehead'.

Addressing the Commons All-Party Parliamentary Group on local growth, local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) and enterprise zones on 5 November, Mr Clark said ‘there is no reason why the same approach cannot be taken to other areas'.
