'City region powers can boost growth'

The next Government should devolve fiscal powers to the country’s three biggest city regions in a bid to boost growth, the Centre for Cities think-tank has urged.

The next Government should devolve fiscal powers to the country's three biggest city regions in a bid to boost growth, the Centre for Cities think-tank urged today. 

Researchers said Greater Manchester, the West Midlands and London should be given a share of income tax, allowed to completely retain business rates and have council tax reformed.
