City teams up for innovative plans to transform services

Leeds City Council has joined with other local authorities and national experts to find ways to transform local government services.

Leeds City Council has joined with other local authorities and national experts – including Lord Laming and Will Hutton – to find ways to transform local government service provision and create a new ‘social contract'.

The local authority has created the ‘Commission on the future of local government' and, together with representatives from Glasgow and Cardiff councils, will consider innovative means to involve businesses and the voluntary sector in service provision.The commission states its aim is to establish ‘an entrepreneurial spirit to create new jobs to replace those lost in the public sector'.
