Communities secretary Greg Clark has hinted at his support for creation of a single Yorkshire region, as he contends with unforeseen enthusiasm for nationwide devolution.

With local leaders at loggerheads over how Yorkshire should divide into a combined authority, Mr Clark voiced approval for the creation of one combined region covering the north eastern area under an elected mayor.
