Communities secretary Greg Clark has hinted he would prefer Yorkshire leaders to unite and form a single region to spearhead Government support for the ‘Northern Powerhouse'.

With local councils at loggerheads over how Yorkshire should divide into a combined authority, Mr Clark voiced his support for the creation of one combined region covering the north western area under an elected mayor.
