Cities minister Greg Clark is poised to announce a further tranche of multi-billion pound devolution deals for major English cities next week, it has emerged.

The further transferal of tax and powers currently vested in Whitehall to cities such as Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester, is in response to the pledge made to Scotland by the leaders of the major political parties in the run up to last month's Scottish independence referendum.
