Clearing the air – a moral duty

Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram outlines the action the combined authority is taking to improve air quality and address the threat posed by climate change.

Poor air quality is a national public health crisis which is shortening the lives of people across our city region, and disproportionately affecting the old and the young, those who are already sick, and our most deprived communities.

At the same time, at a global level, the number one challenge facing us all is the unfolding climate crisis, as we stand on the threshold of catastrophic, irreversible, accelerated global warming, that will cause untold misery and hardship for countless millions.
