Cllrs to decide fate of incinerator

Norfolk county councillors are to meet next month to discuss whether or not to scrap controversial plans for the Kings Lynn incinerator.

Norfolk county councillors are to meet next month to discuss whether or not to scrap controversial plans for the Kings Lynn incinerator.

An extraordinary meeting on 7 April has been set by a group of councillors, including UKIP group leader, Cllr Toby Coke, to discuss scrapping the delayed project in order to avoid an increase in the compensation figure the council must pay contractors in the event of failure, which is currently set at £20.3m.

The county council is still waiting on a planning decision from communities secretary Eric Pickles about whether the £500m energy from waste project can go ahead.
