Council leaders across Yorkshire have condemned a government decision to close a children's heart surgery unit in Leeds.

Leeds City Council met yesterday (11 July), after The MJ went to press, to confirm it would appeal to the health secretary, Andrew Lansley, following the decision last week to close the specialist department at Leeds General Infirmary.
