Opposition MPs have called for infrastructure investment to be brought forward after Treasury chief secretary Danny Alexander hinted there could be fresh announcements in this month's Spending Review.

Speaking to the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce on 30 May, Mr Alexander said the Government intended to 'make commitments right through to the next decade' through the Spending Review, set for 26 June.
