Central and local government should work together on combined £18bn land and asset disposals over the next five years to boost economic growth and improve local public services, property experts were told this week.
Speaking at a Government Property conference at the QEII Conference Centre in London on Wednesday, Brian Reynolds, programme director for the One Public Estate programme – a joint Local Government Association and Cabinet Office property initiative – made five key demands he said would start a debate helping councils get more value and better outcomes from the £13bn of land and property sales the sector is expected to make between 2015 and 2018.
