Economic growth in the North and Midlands may fail unless councils ‘put competition aside' on hiring staff, MPs have been warned.

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) today told members of the Business Innovation and Skills Committee that the Government's vision for the Northern Powerhouse and Midlands Engine would require councils to ‘work together' on creating a wide talent pool of skills.
