Here comes the NICE

Health regulator in drive to recruit senior council officials and politicians to shape guidance on new integrated healthcare systems.

Health regulator the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is seeking to recruit senior council officials and town hall politicians to help shape future guidance on new integrated healthcare systems.

Phillip Woodward, chair of NICE's local government reference group (LGRG) , has written to recruit members to the panel to bring in a cross-section of skills and experience in public health and social care issues.

Successful applicants for social care membership will include senior local authority managers and professionals working in social care, either within a local government setting or a commissioning hub.

Specialists in vulnerable children and young people, children, young people and adults with learning or physical disabilities or mental health problems and those working with people who misuse drugs or alcohol, and older people are invited to apply.

Elected members with responsibility for adult or children's social care are also sought for the social care part of the group.

Candidates for public health membership are expected to be councillors either already sitting on an established health and wellbeing board or with an interest in improving health and wellbeing.

‘It will be particularly important for us to ensure that political perspectives are reflected at the meetings of the Group and those elected members with leading roles in social care or health and wellbeing may be especially interested in the roles,' the former Fylde BC chief executive writes.

The recruitment process ends on 13 September, and candidates with experience of multi-agency collaboration at a local, regional or national level are asked to apply on the NICE website through the following link.
