Commission to examine future role of health and social care

Further moves to drive forward the integration of health and adult care emerged this week with the launch of a new commission.

Further moves to drive forward the integration of health and adult care emerged this week with the launch of a new commission to examine whether the current system is 'fit for purpose.'

The new commission, set up by the King's Fund, intends to 'fundamentally re-examine the terms of the post-war settlement which established the NHS as a universal service, free at the point of use, and social care as a separately funded means-tested service.'
