Following David Walker's article last week, George Jones and John Stewart argue that the Audit Commission deserves to be scrapped because, by taking on an inspection role with best value and CPA, it became a creature of central government

The Government is going to abolish the Audit Commission. We support that decision, although for different reasons from the Government.
