Commissioning oversights

Barnet and Harrow's joint legal service is an example that in-house skills must be retained in commissioning era, writes Philip Thomson.

As many local authorities increasingly move towards a commissioning model of service delivery, the Committee on Standards in Public Life (CSPL) delivered an interesting report on Ethical Standards for Providers of Public Services this summer.

The research highlighted that the public wants common ethical standards across all provider types, regardless of sector, and that ‘how' the service is delivered is as important to the public as ‘what' is delivered.
