Local authority leaders have rallied to support workers facing redundancy at the Ford Motor manufacturing plants in Southampton and Dagenham.

Ford's decision to cease manufacturing will mean around 750 jobs will be lost from Dagenham's stamping and tooling plant, and an additional 500 redundancies will follow next year's closure of the Transit van plant in Southampton – with production relocated to Ford's Turkish manufacturing base.
