Paul Wheatley explains why a Leicestershire town’s cinema in the park is an innovative use of Welcome Back funding.

Coalville is an ex-coal-mining town. We at North West Leicestershire DC have big ambitions for it. It is a growing community with a strong economic base, but in need of a more modern and vibrant town centre to increase footfall.

That is why we wanted to give local people something special and innovative to tempt them back into its centre when COVID pandemic restrictions were eased. The result was Coalville's first Cinema in the Park.
