Complaints matter more than ever

Local Government Ombudsman Michael King says that, while he is sympathetic to councils facing tough choices in the midst of a cost of care crisis, he will never cut local government some slack by flexing decisions.

While national media is focused on the cost of living crisis, a parallel cost of caring crisis is playing out for the councils and families that deliver or rely upon this vital service.

The Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Select Committee recently summed up the challenge in plain words: ‘The adult care sector does not have enough funding, either in the here and now, or in the longer-term.'
