A long-trailed overhaul of school funding has been delayed until 2018, prompting ‘disappointment' from Britain's lowest funded councils.

Newly-appointed education secretary Justine Greening told MPs the launch of a new national funding formula for schools expected in 2017/18 would now only come into force from 2018/19.
