Government plans to introduce elected police commissioners has received scant backing from Tory councils, according to a report in today's Guardian.

Papers obtained under the Freedom of Information Act revealed that two-thirds of the 37 Tory councils who responded to the Government's consultation on police reform failed to give any direct support and most raised serious concerns.
