A new legal duty to support a multi-agency approach to preventing and tackling serious violence could be introduced.

The move comes amid a rise in serious violence driven by an increase in crack cocaine use since 2014 and the growth of county lines in which drug-selling gangs from major urban areas have sought to exploit markets elsewhere.
