Cooper warns against elected police chiefs

Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper warns elected police commissioners will politicise the service, ahead of Parliamentary debate on the controversial plans today.

Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper has warned that elected police commissioners will politicise the service, as MPs get ready to debate the controversial plans today.

Ms Cooper said elected police chiefs would create 'unprecedented political power over policing' and cost more than £100m to set up.
