Labour's new shadow local government and devolution minister has pledged to help shift power ‘from the few to the many'.

The former leader of Oldham MBC and the Local Government Association's Labour group, Jim McMahon, confirmed last night on Twitter he had accepted the role, which was one of a series of shadow cabinet announcements made over the weekend.
