Corporate Director of Communities

CORPORATE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITIES

Employer: Nottingham City Council

Salary: £120,000 - £144,000

Closing Date: 30 September, 2011.

Real people, real lives - make a real difference As one of the 8 core cities, Nottingham is hugely important to the UK economy – and Nottingham's people are important to us. We are a go ahead city that has recently been judged as the cleanest big city and we have cut crime down by half since 2003.~We have big ambitions for our citizens, our communities and our neighbourhoods and we strive to ensure that they receive the best possible services from their Council. Our citizens have made it clear that they support our priorities – for Nottingham to be safe, clean, ambitious and proud.

As Corporate Director for Communities, you will lead the future development of many of our neighbourhood based services. You will lead the delivery of high quality services including Community Safety and Cohesion, Community based Health and Social Care and a full range of public realm services such as Energy Efficiency; another area in which Nottingham excels at. We are determined to continue to transform all of our neighbourhoods making them each a great place to live. You will also oversee all of the Council's Leisure and Culture offer including our successful, world class events programme.

Your proven ability to develop and communicate a clear vision and direct and strengthen the Council's community leadership role will be key to your success; as will a strong commercial awareness - at a time when we need to ensure all services are run cost effectively and generate revenue streams.

Capable of developing successful partnerships at the highest level you will be just as comfortable dealing with local people and local issues.

We need to attract the very highest calibre individuals to join our leadership team. If you fit that bill and have what it takes to really make a difference we look forward to hearing from you.
