Council leaders who have broken away from COSLA have dismissed reports they may face bills running into hundreds of thousands of pounds from their former colleagues as ‘sour grapes’.

Council leaders who have broken away from COSLA have dismissed reports they may face bills running into hundreds of thousands of pounds from their former colleagues as ‘sour grapes'.

The MJ has seen a confidential report, which went before COSLA members earlier this month which states their constitution requires any council leaving the organisation ‘pay some of the ongoing costs of contractual obligations'.
