The young leader of Broxbourne BC, Lewis Cocking, talks to Dan Peters about his firm focus on economic development and why his council hasn’t declared a climate change emergency.

The decision by supermarket giant Tesco to close its main head office in Cheshunt in 2016 came as a huge blow to Broxbourne BC.

Tesco's withdrawal from the borough in favour of nearby Welwyn Garden City led to the loss of 2,000 jobs and contributed to Broxbourne recording negative economic growth between 2014 and 2019.
