A council has decided to appeal the decision of an employment tribunal that criticised the behaviour of its head of legal services. The tribunal found Evelyn Jarrett was unfairly dismissed, and discriminated against, victimised and harassed at Essex CC.

But an Essex spokesman said: ‘We were surprised and disappointed by the tribunal's decision and believe it is right that we appeal this judgment.'
